Midlife Crisis Alert: Impulse-Buying A Classic Mustang

So I have not gotten to talk on my weblog nearly as often as I had expected, because of the fact that I have been dealing with my old man manage his incredibly wacky midlife crisis. True, I guess it’s not as far gone as it could be. The thing is, the way he played it out was to get himself dressed up like he was Fonzie or something, and come over to my house and casually inform me, in his jazziest dialect: “Get ready, dude, you and I are out cruising for some classic Ford Mustang Sales. You heard that right, brother, I intend to buy one.”
So next my Dad and I went out to a few of those wild vintage car places that everybody is just about sure are mob-run, and I can’t believe it when my crazy padre cut a check without even stopping to think, for an alarmingly well-preserved classic Ford automobile. It really is one hell of a machine. It sounded great as well.
There’s a reason why I said that in the past tense. It sounded perfect right up to the point that it became silent. My Dad maintains that it’s just a simple thing to fix and all he needs is the right part. Of course, it may not be as straightforward to come across 1966 Mustang parts as it was over 30 years ago, but he insists that there’s a pretty big availability for them to this day. It seems like the the easiest way to find parts for 1966 Mustangs is by way of online auctions, because you can find them rebuilt and sometimes better than new. They’re not necessarily a steal, however… Come on, man, we’re talking about 30-year-old classic car parts.
I suppose it could’ve been worse. He could’ve gone and found a volkswagen bus.
